Who is JAEWOO JOO
Mr. Jaewoo Joo is a Ph.D. candidate in Marketing at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, he earned his Bachelor degree and an MBA from Seoul National University and worked as a research assistant at Samsung Economic Research Institute and LG Telecom.
Mr. Joo’s research interest is the intersection of design and marketing. In general, he studies new product development and product design with respect to the psychology of judgment of decision making. For instance, he explores how designers do and should use market research data in his dissertation research and investigates when consumers weight on form and when they weight on function in their design evaluation in his research paper.
Mr. Joo is also committed to teaching marketing and design. He taught Principles of Marketing in 2007 and 2009 and won the Excellence in Teaching Award in both years. Further, he was a teaching assistant for various marketing courses and, as a member of DesignworksTM, assisted two design courses in the MBA program—Design Practicum: New Product and Services Lab, and Innovation, Foresight and Business Design.
Mr. Joo devotes himself to communicating with marketing and design academicians. He attends marketing conferences and design workshops regularly to discuss research topics and teaching issues. His effort to reach out to marketers and designers led him to get research fund from the Design Center at Kookmin University and to serve as a panelist for 2009 World’s Best Design Schools at Business Week (see “How can we came up with our D-School list“).

Hi Jaewoo,
Firstly, I am very impressed by your blog. It covers the flux of two radically complimentary domains : Business & Design.
I am an Industrial Designer and have been leading innovation for my buisness in a fortune 100 company. When I felt the need to do an MBA, Rotman seemed to be a good option as it is probably the only few 2-3 schools that recognizes the power of design thinking. I have already got an admit in 2010 batch, but now I am getting some mixed feedbacks from the current students regarding job opportunities and other prospects in Canada.
I need your help urgently, to help me take my decision. My due date for confirming my admission is Jan 2nd Week.
Can we chat ? or, Can I call you ??
Thanks & Best Regards
Arvind
